Puppies
At Oakmeadows, I aim to breed gentle, happy, sound, healthy puppies that will give love and affection to their owners but may be a little mischievous as well. I occasionally have a litter of carefully planned puppies. All my Cockers are annually eye tested and Optigen tested for PRA. I choose a dog that will suit my bitch and her breeding but temperament is uppermost in my choice of a stud dog.
My puppies start their life being born in my kitchen and depending on the time of year, move out into the conservatory when old enough from where they have access to the garden. I try to enourage them to be housetrained by going outside as soon as possible - puppies naturally like to be clean. Socialisation is extremely important for well adjusted dogs and I introduce them to as many unusual sounds and situations as possible. I even play a special tape recording of noises to them.
Having a litter of puppies is hard work and time consuming but they are such a joy to watch and I spend endless hours enjoying their antics, playing with them and giving them cuddles.
